It is our goal is to provide informative training information making your visit a positive, helpful and easy experience.

Area 4 is one of 14 regional offices of State Fire Rescue Training (SFRT) serving the firefighters and rescue personnel of Kentucky with training and support. SFRT is a Division of the Kentucky Fire Commission within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). SFRT is headed by Division Director Pat Thompson, whose office is located at 118 James Court, Lexington, KY 40505.

SFRT Area 4 offers Fire, EMS and Industrial Training. Staff includes a full-time area coordinator, a full time office coordinator and is located at 825 Morgantown Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101.

SFRT Area 4 provides classroom and hands on training to fire departments in the following 10 counties (Allen, Barren, Bulter, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren) in the South Central Kentucky Region.

SFRT A4 website offers our area’s training schedule for upcoming classes in Area 4 plus events in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We hope our efforts will assist the user to find your professional training requirements in a quick, convenient website for the South Central Kentucky Region.

The Governors Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education (hereafter referred to as the Fire Commission) originated in 1970 with the passage of House Bill 64. It was funded in 1982 with the passage of House Bill 525, which became KRS 95A. The Fire Commission is a 19-member commission appointed by the Governor.

Our Mission

MISSION OF FIRE COMMISSION: The mission of the Fire Commission is to strengthen, upgrade and improve the fire service for the citizens and industry of the Commonwealth through standardized, education, training, communication, and distribution of funds.

MISSION OF FIRE RESCUE TRAINING: The mission of Fire Rescue Training is to plan, direct, and administer a quality, comprehensive and uniformly delivered training program through the most efficient use of available resources to assist in meeting the training needs of fire, rescue and other emergency services personnel so that lives and property may be saved more safely and effectively. In addition, to provide health and safety training programs for industries, institution, government agencies and other such entities to assist in meeting their training needs mandated by federal, state and local laws.
